The application of Thymol in diary farming
Limb and hoof disease is one of those
with the highest elimination rate. It can directly lead to a decrease in
milk production, fertility and immunity of cows. Meanwhile, increasing
the treatment cost, labor cost and hoof repair cost lead to a huge lost
to the pasture.The most severe one of all the hoof disease is the
infectious hoof dermatitis, which also named as hoof wart、hairy heel
wart、strawberry disease, etc. It has a fast transmission speed and
difficult to cure. Based on the study, of all the bateria, it is the
treponema that mainly cause the hoof disease. The structure of treponema
is a hooklike spiral and could deeply invade into the fat tissuse.
After a large number of experiments, professors finally found that thymol could completely and effectively inhibit and kill all the pathogenic microorganisms by using a very low concentration (0.08%) within only 30 seconds.
How
does thymol work so well? Compared with other natural phenols, thymol
mainly consists of aromatic groups and hydroxyl groups. Its
antibacterial activity is performed by the interaction of thymol and hydroxyl groups in bacterial cell membrane.
The advantage of antibacteria usage of thymol are as follows:
1、
Work fast: conventional disinfectant sterilization would work within
about 10 minutes, and thyme needs only 1 to 3 minutes can kill 99.99% of
bacteria, fungi and part of the membrane structure of the virus.
2、No
lead to the drug resistance after long-term application: it attracted
to the membrane structure of the bacteria and then damage the membrane
structure, this will not act on the protein as well as not lead to DNA
mutation, so thymol will not cause drug resistance and other problems.
3、Low concentration requirements: 65ppm can work effectively.
4、Biodegradable:
natural degradation. The application of copper sulfate will cause land
hardening, seriously affecting the growth of crops.
5、Non-corrosive: it will not corrode any equipment in the pasture.
6、Non-toxic: thymol has been used in human food and household products.
7、Stimulation:
Two times of distillation can effectively remove the flavor of thymol. A
large number of experiments have proved that after effective
treatment, thymol is of no irritation to the skin and mucous membrane.
